Gosam Reservoir

Anglers have a love hate relationship with Gosam. Gosam is a leased lake, that offers boat rentals. You can rent a small boat with an electric motor. Gosam takes time to figure out. There is a variety of structure and it is bigger that you think. The worst thing you can do is try to beat the bank and work your way around the lake. You need to know the season and what bite to chase; whether that is deep, shallow, off rocky points, etc. If you put in your time 50 fish days are possible, but if you go in blind catching two keepers is more likely. The boat rentals have a fixed starting and return time. So you can’t rely on that golden hour bite window if you factor the travel time with your trolling motor. Gosam fishes the best in spring and fall.

Fishing tips- Finesse fishing seems like to the go to method with a drop shot or free rig. If you are fly fishing I would definitely bring and sink tip and resist the urge to fish top water. There are plenty of fish in this lake, but getting a bite can be tricky. Gosam is a place where you need to put in your time.
