Yeomchi Reservoir

Yeomchi is a pay lake loaded with fish. Last time I checked the fee to fish Yeomchi was 10,000 KRW for day use. A warden travels around collecting the fee, so you don’t have to check in any place. Just start fishing and he will find you. There are no boats allowed on Yeomchi, and the most popular feature is a long dock that you can fish off of. I’ve seen some pretty big snakehead and catfish in there as well.

During the winter the lake freezes and fishing is not possible. During late February and March people start reporting catches of bass. Yeomchi has some great prespawn feeding (actually exceptional feeding through out the summer), bass can be seen busting bait. During the summer the water level drops and many anglers start wading out into the shallows. Be careful though, there is a channel and runs from the in flowing stream to the main lake. During the late summer milfoil starts to cover the shallow flats. Yeomchi often sees algae blooms that affect clarity.

Fishing tips- Fishing Yeomchi can be a challenge because there are so many forage fish. Being able to cast a long distance will greatly increase your chances. I spent an afternoon observing some Yeomchi pros and they were bombing jerk baits with a steady retrieve and consistently catching. Any silver and white fly will fish well. Try to keep the fly 2.5-5 feet deep with a variety of retrieves.
