Andong Lake 3/14/23

March 15, 2023 John Koenigs

The water temps started at 44 F in the main lake. I parked at the Seobo port boat ramp. The water was extremely low; lower than the length of the ramp. Launching the tube was still possible as the end of the ramp slopes down. The main lake never reached 50 F, which is usually the my target for when bass start the chase flies, and I didn’t see any active feeding. It was a tough day. However, I did a lot of graphing and found a nice hump in the middle of the lake. The inflow from the Nakdong river was 2-3 degrees warmer than the main lake, but was going through turnover (the bottom of the lake was bubbling up). It is tough to catch bass in these conditions. There is a really nice rock wall (chunky with big boulders) that I think will fish well after the conditions stabilize. With the water down, the deepest part of the lake I graphed was only 27 feet. Pretty manageable with a fly rod. I checked the shallow coves, but the bottoms were sandy and soft and didn’t have any activity.
